If you are building something to be light weight, of course you’d like to use balsa wood. However, it also has to be strong you might have to go with Pine, or a plywood.

Nevertheless, whichever wood you choose for whatever project you are doing, it makes sense to have a good amount of various types of wood already on hand as you choose how to go about your project. Please consider all this.
