Handcrafted, Hand Painted Furnishings & Functional Artwork Objects
My husband and I have carried out several tasks together. He enjoys woodworking and I clearly enjoy painting. He has created many frames for my authentic paintings as effectively as some really amazing pieces of furnishings this kind of as: Adirondack chairs & tables. He even built our enjoyment center/fireplace mantel and the island in our kitchen.
I have presented photographs of some of the things that we have worked on collectively as nicely as some other items I have painted or altered in some way.
This very first task I will present was a commission from one particular of my collectors. She had bought a couple of my pieces for her new kitchen and needed some other items to include to the theme.
The first piece was not a “functional” piece in its unique type but did move on to be 1 later.
She desired me to paint a colorful abstract piece of a Scottish Terrier utilizing: orange, purple, green & yellow and the other colours I typically paint in. I presented her with this rough sketch and then moved onto the painting.
Soon after finishing the painting she went on to order a cutting board with the painting on it. I ordered it from a firm I work with that gives this support.
The unique is a 16″x20″ acrylic on canvas painting. Proven below are some prints & cards featuring this painting.
She requested anything to hold her utensils in, again with the identical color scheme.
My husband created a square utensil holder then I chose one of my square pieces that I had initially painted on
Mexican Saltillo tile and created a print of it to match the dimension of the square for the front. I mounted the print to the front and painted patterns on the three remaining sides. Then I varnished it.
The painting featured on the front of the box is also obtainable on throw
pillows , clocks , mugs and other functional artwork products. View all merchandise right here!
Subsequent on the record was the spoon Rest. My husband cut it out of a block of wood and carved out the center area. I went ahead to paint and varnish it.
I have also bought pre-produced unfinished products to paint on. One of my favorites are trinket boxes. They come in all shapes and sizes and are straightforward to find. They also make great presents.
The box shown on the left has a print of one particular of my unique paintings from my ‘Colors In Motion’ series mounted on the front. This piece was also hand painted and the print was framed out in small wood pieces. I only extra varnish to the print are for safety. The rest of the box, inside and outdoors is painted to depart a rustic sort of look.
This is one particular of the Adirondack chairs, that my husband constructed. He has built several Adirondack chairs.
He developed two of these particular ones. every have rockers. I painted each. A single is shown here. I have to discover the photograph of the other and will include it another time.
I ended up trading the two chairs for some awesome photography for my new property.
My friend Paula Showen is an incredible photographer so I filled my property with her operate. You can view her photography @ ShowmarPhoto.com. I need to have her get a couple of pics of of the chairs for me to include to this page as hers would be significantly much better than the photo I took.
